Cary W. Spencer
concentrates his practice in estate planning, trusts, estate administration, real estate and
business transactions. Mr. Spencer provides a full range of legal services in these areas,
including advice on tax planning,
the formation, finance and counseling of business entities; the purchase, sale,
finance, and taxation of real estate; tax-free exchanges of real estate; estate
planning, business succession planning, trust formation and administration, and
the business, real estate, and charitable transactions needed to implement an
estate plan or administer a trust.
Mr. Spencer earned his B.A. degree from UCLA in 1972, graduating with honors and being nominated for the Danforth
fellowship. Mr. Spencer earned his J.D. degree from UCLA in 1975. In 1977, Mr. Spencer formed his own law firm, Morris & Spencer, and
practiced more than twenty years as Senior Partner and Of Counsel. Mr. Spencer served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Pepperdine University
Law School and La Verne University Law School, teaching Partnership Law and Real Property Finance.
Before joining Stowell, Zeilenga, Ruth, Vaughn & Treiger as “Of
Counsel”, Mr. Spencer was trained, certified and employed as a guided Portfolio Manager with The Consulting Group, the registered investment advisor
division of Smith Barney, with over $130 billion in assets under management. Mr. Spencer managed investment portfolios for trusts, foundations,
retirement plans, and individuals. Mr. Spencer was licensed by the National Association of Securities Dealers (Series 7
and Series 65), and was a Registered Investment Advisor. Mr. Spencer uses this practical experience in the securities industry as
a valuable resource when providing legal advice on estate planning and trusts.
Mr. Spencer is married, has three daughters, has lived in Malibu since 1982, and enjoys golfing, sailing, and traveling with his family.
