Samuel E. Gasowski concentrates his practice in the areas of intellectual property,
business and real estate transactions and business law counseling and
litigation.
Intellectual
Property
Mr.
Gasowski helps start-up companies and established businesses protect
their intellectual property. Specifically, he practices in the
areas of copyright and trademark prosecution and licensing, sales and
transfer transactions. He also provides advice regarding intellectual
property and the Internet, and the role of intellectual property in
corporate transactions and due diligence.
Business Transactions/Business
Law Counseling
Mr.
Gasowski's experience in business transactions includes formations,
acquisitions, sales and reorganizations, together with daily operational
issues in all types of business entities, including closely held corporations,
limited liability companies and partnerships.
Real Estate
Transactions
Mr.
Gasowski helps his clients secure the appropriate physical space in
which to operate, regardless of whether they are leasing or purchasing.
He negotiates and drafts all types of real property agreements, and
provides advise during the due diligence process.
Prior
to joining Stowell, Zeilenga, Ruth, Vaughn & Treiger, Mr. Gasowski
practiced with a prominent Ventura County firm, where he specialized
in business, commercial and intellectual property litigation and transactions.
Mr. Gasowski's litigation experience includes prosecuting and defending
disputes concerning trademark licenses, computer software licenses,
design services contracts, toxic torts, corporate governance and control
and general business, corporate and commercial matters.
Before
moving to California, Mr. Gasowski practiced in Indiana, with firms
in Bloomington and Indianapolis. While in Indiana, Mr. Gasowski practiced
in the areas of general civil litigation and insurance.
Affiliations
and Honors
Mr.
Gasowski is a member of the California and Indiana State Bar Associations,
the Ventura County Bar Association, the American Bar Association ("ABA")
and the ABA-Young Lawyers Division ("ABA-YLD"). Mr. Gasowski
is the former Chair of the ABA-YLD's Intellectual Property and Internet
Law Committee, and is the Vice-Chair for the ABA-YLD’s Intellectual
Property Law Committee for 2008-2009. Mr. Gasowski is also a member
of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (“SEMA”), a trade
group for the after-market automotive product industry, where he serves
on the Hot Rod Industry Alliance Committee.
In
2008, Sam was selected for inclusion in the
Super Lawyers–Rising Stars Edition,
an elite list of Southern California lawyers under 40 years old; or
in practice for ten years or less. Of this group, no more than
2.5 percent of Southern California’s attorneys are named to the Rising
Stars list. To
be included, candidates are selected or nominated by their peers and independently evaluated,
across several factors, for evidence of peer recognition and professional
achievement.
Education
In
2001, Mr. Gasowski graduated from Indiana University's School of Law
and Kelley School of Business, earning both a Juris Doctorate and a
Master's Degree in Business Administration. Mr. Gasowski also pursued
his undergraduate studies at Indiana University and, while there, he
won three Big Ten Conference titles (two individual, one relay) and
earned six NCAA All-American Honorable Mention awards in swimming.
Speaking and Writing Engagements
Mr.
Gasowski is a contributing author to the ABA-YLD’s 101 and 201 series
practice guides. He is a regular speaker at California Lutheran
University (Thousand Oaks, California), where he discusses intellectual
property matters and critical legal issues for entrepreneurs and start-ups.
Mr. Gasowski has addressed both CLU’s MBA students and the University’s
Entrepreneur Round-Table. Mr. Gasowski has also spoken at the
Action Sports Retailer conference, where he provided a lecture on brand
protection and management. Mr. Gasowski is regularly available
